The Houston Education Foundation is hosting a trivia night on March 5 to raise funds for new, portable risers for Houston Schools.

Registration begins at 6 p.m. inside Hiett Gymnasium. The contest begins at 6:30 p.m. Teams of eight will fill one table. Cost is $10 per person or $80 per table.

The HEF will have all types of trivia topics for the teams. They will also sell beverages and trivia mulligans to raise funds at the event. Cash prizes, a Branson ticket giveaway, 50/50 raffle and door prizes will also be part of the evening’s festivities.

To reserve a table for a team, contact organizers and HEF board members Rita Ruckert at 417-967-3434 or Dan Adey at 417-967-3455.

The portable risers the HEF hopes to purchase for the school have wheels that make them easier to move from location to location. The top riser row has a safety bar behind it to help prevent falls off the back of the risers. The cost of the risers is more than $8,000.

The mission of the HEF is to promote education excellence beyond the scope of the Houston R-1 School District. The Houston Education Foundation also donated the funds to purchase a new sound system for Hiett Gymnasium and to purchase new desks and chairs for a middle school classroom.

For additional information about the Houston Education Foundation, contact Ruckert or Adey. Anyone who wishes to make a donation toward the purchase of the risers can mail their tax deductible donation to: HEF, PO Box 102, Houston, Mo., 65483.
