Community Betterment and Arts Council of Houston spearheaded an effort to generate tissue boxes for the Houston School District campus.
On July 18 and 25, movies were shown at Phoenix Theater and sponsored by State Farm Insurance. A pool party Friday at the Houston Municipal Pool generated items for the district and was sponsored by Simmons Bank. Admission at all three events was a box of tissues.
Swimmers were treated to ice cream at the pool.
Also helping with the events were the Texas County Library and the youth arm of community betterment, Y.O.U.T.H.
It is the third year that the organization has sponsored “Stuff the Bus!” to assist the school, which opens classes on Wednesday, Aug. 21.
