Members of the Texas County Commission handled several matters during meetings Aug. 7 and 8.

Members:

  • Met with Bobby McCleod, In-House Tech, to discuss several issues with the county’s IT.
  • Reviewed and approved a bid from Ozark Mountain Tree Service for lights and power washing at the justice center.
  • Reviewed and approved juror’s pay to increase to $12 per day.
  • Reviewed and acknowledged the hiring of Laiken Davis, as full-time jailer, effective Aug. 7.
  • Spoke with Sheriff Scott Lindsey concerning sending an individual to sheriff’s academy and a truck for the department.
  • Discussed several items with Tammy Cantrell, collector/treasurer, including phone system issues, server problems, the tax sale and the need for a part-time worker.
  • Reviewed Aug. 6 primary election reports.
  • Reviewed a letter from the Missouri Department of Conservation pertaining to the County Aid Road Trust (CART) program.

In other business, commissioners heard from:

  • Ivan Schraeder, attorney, on county matters.
  • Rhonda Kirkwood, City of Licking clerk, on a property in Licking.
  • Madeline Miller on planning commission meetings.
  • Bill Bridges, Texas County Memorial Hospital chief executive officer, on Licking property.
  • Jill Garrett on the “Good Dads” program.
  • David Scantlin concerning FEMA progress and issues with UEI numbers.
  • A Roubidoux Township representative concerning FEMA.
  • Fred Stenger, Piney Township, on issues with loggers damaging township roads.
