Carol Sue (Guy) Roberts, 81, of Houston passed away Aug. 7, 2024, at Houston House with her daughter by her side. Carol was born Sept. 1, 1942, in Windsor, Missouri to Ira Guy and Delilah (Johnson) Guy Penrose.
Carol married Bill Roberts in December 1959. They enjoyed 59 years of marriage until his passing in 2019. They had two children, Butch and Sharon.
Carol attended grade school in Parkville, Independence Pleasant Ridge and Kansas City. She attended high school in Houston. Carol worked at Fort Leonard Wood Civil Service; she began at the reception station during the Vietnam War and retired after 23 years as an auditor in the finance and accounting office. She worked at the Houston Herald after her retirement.
Carol is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Roberts; son, Butch Roberts; four sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon; and grandson, David.
Carol loved her family and always attended to the care and comfort of them and to extended family and friends. Carol was an excellent seamstress, gardener and artist. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Ozark Baptist Church for many years. Animals captured her soft heart, and she cared for them deeply.
Carol saw challenges as opportunities, never failing to reach for the best in herself and others. Her generosity with hugs and smiles will be missed. Carol’s blessings will be many in the heavenly garden.
Per her wishes, Carol was cremated. Inurnment at Hickory Ridge Cemetery will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Houston House gardening fund. Arrangements entrusted to Evans Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.evansfh.com.
