Alfred Clinton “Chip” Smith Jr. was born Sept. 25, 1965 in Springfield, Missouri to Alfred Clinton and Judith Ann (Lyman) Smith. He passed away at his home in Houston, Missouri July 20, 2024 at the age of 58.
Chip grew up in Tyler, Texas. After graduating high school, he attended Baylor University, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Following college, he worked in sales for a time. He then became an independent contractor with a focus on home remodeling. In 2023, Chip returned to southern Missouri and lived in Houston until his passing.
Chip was a Christian and maintained strength in his faith throughout life.
He had many hobbies including golf and playing guitar. He was an avid reader and music lover. He also enjoyed spending time with people and had a great sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Clinton Smith Sr.
Chip is survived by his mother, Judith Smith; his younger siblings, a sister, Susan West and her husband Johnny, his brother, Paul Smith; two nieces, Kristen Willett and Bailey West; three great nephews and one great niece, Waylon McCreight, Audrey McCreight, Justin McCreight and Sawyer Willett; Tom DeVuyst, who he was a longtime father figure; the “Smith cousins”; special friends, Todd Barnes and Keith Rodenberg; cousin, Jodie Forbes and numerous other loved ones Chip called his “tribe.”
He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at Mark’s place. Cremation services were under the care of Bradford Funeral Home and online condolences may be left at www.bradfordfuneralhome.net
