A registered sexual offender is in the Texas County Jail on charges he was within 500 feet of a Summersville park.
On June 21, Summersville police said David W. Dickinson, born in 1960, of Fremont, was observed in a white Ford truck within about 50 feet of the Summersville City Park. Dickinson was already on probation for failing to register as a sex offender and was currently on Missouri’s offender list, according to a police report.
Summersville police said they observed Dickinson at the park where young children were playing under a pavilion. Dickinson later moved to an area with swings, a report says.
Upon being told he was under arrest, the suspect said he was looking for shade.
