A Marine who disappeared from nearby Fort Leonard Wood in early May has been found.
U.S. Marshals and officers with the Bourbon Police Department located Private First Class Kavian Elder recently. He is in the custody of the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department.
“U.S. Marine Corps Training Command is grateful for his safe retrieval and will work on all required administrative processes once the custody transfer is complete,” said Maj. Joshua J. Pena of the U.S. Marine Corps Director Communication Strategy and Operations Training and Education Command.
Elder disappeared May 3 after he missed lights out and roll call the next morning. The Marines launched a nationwide bulletin for his return. The Memphis native’s family searched for Elder in the Fort Leonard Wood area during the Memorial Day weekend. The family had believed he was in the Memphis area.
