Deputy’s report: Two area children reported missing

The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

• On May 10, a 46-year-old Raymondville woman came to the TCSD office to file a report for the police department in Harrison, Ark., because her former husband’s girlfriend was stealing her identity.

A statement was filled out and sent to that department.

• On May 15, Charles King, of 2109 CR 2460 in Salem, was arrested for having an active Texas County warrant for a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance.

A deputy made the arrest in the county prosecutor’s office after being advised that King was there. He was taken to jail and held without bond.

• On May 17, a 25-year-old man reported that a 34-year-old man was trespassing on his Oak Tree Drive property at Mountain Grove.

The man told a deputy that there was a civil suit in court over the property boundary and that the other man had removed a fence and was bulldozing the fence row.

The officer made contact with the other man, who said a survey of the property had been done improperly and the fence had been put up in the wrong spot. He said he was dozing the old fence line and wasn’t on the other man’s property, and that he would be putting up a new fence and didn’t want any help from the first man.

The officer advised both men the matter was civil and they should speak with their attorneys.

• On May 25, a deputy responded to a Lundy Road residence in Houston regarding a report of a runaway juvenile boy.

The officer made contact with the boy’s mother, who said she had seen her son running down the driveway and heard a vehicle door. She said she saw a dark-colored pickup parked on the road and then saw it drive away.

The woman told the deputy the boy is a 14-year-old African American and has no cell phone. She said he was wearing a red t-shirt and black pants. She said she didn’t know anyone who might have come to pick him up and didn’t know anywhere he might be going to.

The woman said the boy’s father lives outside Missouri, most likely in New York.

The boy was posted as missing. Investigation is ongoing.

• On May 25, a deputy responded to a Friendship Drive residence in Raymondville regarding a report of a runaway foster child.

The officer made contact with a man and woman there, both 42, who said the boy, 16, whose name is Jordan Hopwood, had run away the night before. They said his bicycle was still in the yard and a dog that usually follows him when he goes for walks was still at the residence.

The boy was posted as missing and investigation is ongoing.

• On May 11, a 68-year-old Licking man reported that an electric fence charger valued at $200 had been stolen from his Highway VV property. Investigation is ongoing.
