Missouri teens competed at the 19th Miss Missouri’s Teen competition in early June. Every delegate received scholarships for college as part of their participation in the scholarship organization.
Here are scholarship winners from local pageants:
•The Miss Missouri’s Teen class of 2024 includes Miss Texas County’s Teen Brylee Welch. She is the daughter of Bryan and Megan Welch of Nixa. She is a student at Nixa High School. Brylee received a $750 scholarship for placing in the top 12.
Her title covers the Houston area. Since she was crowned this winter, she has attended a variety of service projects and appearances throughout the state, focusing primarily on her service initiative, which is “Care in Action,” an effort encouraging teens to volunteer in their communities.
•The class also includes Miss Heart of Southern Missouri’s Teen Sadie Bull. She is the daughter of Kevin and Katie Bull of Lamar and is an incoming student at Lamar High School. She received a non-finalist award as well as the “Big Sister Award,” which is sponsored by Mary Bauer Niswonger. In total, she received $450 in scholarships.
Her title covers the Houston area. Since she was crowned this winter, she has attended a variety of service projects and appearances throughout the state, focusing primarily on her service initiative, “Just One More Book,” which places free libraries around her community for children.
•The group included Miss Heart of Southern Missouri Emily Laskowski. She is studying for a master’s degree in school counseling at Truman State University. She is the daughter of Heather and Richard Corder of Jonesburg. Emily received a $500 non-finalist scholarship.
•Also included is Miss Heart of the Ozarks Hanah Schrader. She is studying to become a registered nurse at the Bolivar Technical College and is the daughter of Shenan Thorn and Robby and Kim Schrader of Joplin.
Schrader finished in the top five and was the third runner-up, which earned her a $4,000 scholarship. She also took home awards for evening wear in the alpha competition group and the overall interview in the alpha group. In total, she earned $4,800 in scholarships.
