Two persons were killed Friday afternoon when their vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer about one mile west of Cabool on U.S. 60, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.
Cpl. Travis Brown said a westbound 2004 Ford Explorer driven by Larae S. English, 31, of Bridgeport, Ala., skidded off the left side of the roadway and overturned in the path of an eastbound 2024 Kenworth T680 driven by Michael Leggs, 54, of Selma, Ala. The accident occurred at about 2:40 p.m.
Brown said the driver of the Explorer was pronounced deceased by Texas County Deputy Coroner Brent Honeycutt at the scene at 3:10 p.m. A passenger, Christopher J. Thomas, 42, of Cowan, Tenn., was pronounced deceased by Texas County Coroner Marie Lasater at 4:42 p.m., the patrol said. The next of kin has been notified. The bodies were transported to Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home, Cabool.

All were wearing seat belts. The vehicle was totaled; the big rig had moderate damage. The driver was not injured.
A portion of U.S. 60 was shut down as emergency personnel worked the accident.
It was the ninth and 10th fatalities of the year in the nine-county Troop G. That’s compared to twelve at the same time in 2023.
Assisting at the scene were Tpr. Nathan Poynter, Cpl. Justin Piccinino, Cpl. Jacob Sellars, Cabool Fire Department, Cpl. Stacy Crewse, patrol reconstructionist; and crash team member Sgt. Michael Eden.
