Thanks to their efforts at the Class 3 district 5 championships last Saturday at Cuba, two athletes from the Houston High School girls track and field team will compete at the Sectionals meet this Saturday at Mountain Grove.
The top-4 finishers in each event at the 13-team district meet qualified for sectionals.
The pair of Lady Tigers advancing include sophomore Kynlee Weaver, who took third in javelin with a toss of 111-3, and sophomore Kayla Wagner, who placed fourth in high jump with a leap of 4-9.
Houston had multiple near-misses with fifth-place finishes in both boys and girls competition.

BOYS
•4X800 relay.
•Shot put – Maleki Morgan (40-1.25)
Houston also had a handful of other top-10 showings.

Eldon won the both the boys and girls district championships.
“Overall, we had a good season,” said HHS head coach Mike Tottingham. “We have a ton of good athletes, but unfortunately, this year our district was brutal.”
