A golf tournament to benefit the local Shop with a Hero program – which gives Christmas gifts to children in need – will take place June 22.
The event will be at the Houston Municipal Golf Course as a two-person scramble with two flights. Tee times are 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., with registration 30 minutes prior.
The cost is $120 per team, which includes lunch and entry into two contests: closest to pin and longest putt. Two mulligans per team can be purchased for $10 each. Each flight will have a first and second place prize.
Businesses and individuals are encouraged to sponsor the tournament. Sponsorships include: Gold, $500; Silver, $350; and Hole, $100.
Organized by the Houston Lions Club, the annual event pairs children with representatives of fire departments, EMS, first responders, law enforcement and others for a shopping trip.
“Every $100 raised from this golf tournament will help pay for one child’s Christmas gifts at our annual Shop with a Hero event, which will be held in December,” said Kenny Reynolds, Texas County Sheriff’s Department sergeant
Sponsor registration must be submitted by Friday, June 7. All sponsors will be recognized during the event.
