Members of the Texas County Commission handled several matters during meetings May 9 – 10.

Members:

  • Reviewed a request from the circuit clerk to increase juror pay.
  • Reviewed a request for a letter of support concerning railroad crossing at Neville Road.
  • Signed and emailed progress invoices for the Camp Road bridge project.
  • Reviewed the 2024-’25 assessor’s maintenance plan approved by the State Tax Commission.
  • Commissioner Robert Ross attended a meeting at the health department.
  • Commissioners Scott Long and John Casey attended a meeting at the Gentry Center.

In other business, commissioners heard from:

  • County Clerk Peggy Seyler on security in her office.
  • EJ Beckerdite, maintenance, on lawn mower issues and approval for Kyle Gross to transfer into the maintenance department.
  • Rudy Blahnik on job openings in the county.
  • Bill Bridges, interim TCMH CEO, on the open hospital board position. “The commission is considering several applicants and is prioritizing the long-term benefits/viability of TCMH, and understands the impact of this decision,” said the commissioners. “In light of the ongoing Missouri State Highway Patrol criminal investigation being conducted involving the TCMH Hospital Board, the Commission will continue deliberations in an effort to make the best possible decision for Texas County, TCMH and our constituents who are employed/served by TCMH.”

  1. Wasn’t George Shultz a candidate in the last election. By rights he should be one of the 1st to be considered .
