Duane Ian De Vere was born to Monte Napolean De Vere and Nellie Mae (Rice) De Vere on May 28, 1932, in Santa Rosa, Calif., the last of seven children born into the home. He left us to be with our Lord Saturday, Feb, 24, 2024, at the age of 91 after succumbing to numerous medical complications. He is preceded in death by both of his parents; his siblings, Susanna, Raoul, Roma, Robert Jacques, Juanita, Theodore; and a son, Gary Raoul.
Duane honorably served his country in the U.S. Army in Korea. Duane eventually bought his own farm, where he would later raise his family. While working his farm, Duane was a standard of the community running several haying crews which provided jobs to the neighborhood youth.
Duane also ran his own creamery in Mountain View, Mo., and while serving the local community, Duane found Joyce Nadean (Haynes) in 1969 and they were married. To this union, were brought William Alan, John Douglas and Robert Eugene and soon three little ones followed – Gary Raoul, Jeanette Marie and Theodore Ian. They lived and worked on a dairy farm in south Texas county.
Duane is survived by two children, Jeanette Marie of Virginia and Theodore Ian of Boonville, Mo.; his wife, Joyce Nadean of Cabool; stepsons, William of Fort Worth, Texas, John of Virginia, and Robert of Galena, Kan., as well as numerous nephews and nieces and 10 grandchildren.
Our father, uncle, grandfather, cousin and friend will surely be missed. He was a patient, loving soul but we now have an amazing angel by our sides.
A memorial service for Duane is 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 8507 Highway E, Houston, Mo., 65483. Arrangements entrusted to Evans Funeral Home, Houston. Online condolences may be left at www.evansfh.com.
