Members of the Texas County Commission handled several matters during meetings March 6-7.
Members:
- Signed and approved contracts with Ozark and Burdine Townships.
- Had a pre-construction meeting on Camp Road Bridge with Great Rivers Engineering, MoDOT and West Plains Bridge & Grading. Scott Long, presiding commissioner, was named the lasting power of attorney in charge of the project.
- Reviewed and approved a liquor license for CASA of South-Central Missouri for a benefit at the Houston Municipal Golf Course.
- Reviewed and approved a liquor license for Amit Mishra dba Snak Attack #42 at 818 Ozark Street in Cabool.
- Met with Linda Pamperien and Ann Hamilton, Texas County Memorial Hospital. Pamperien updated the commission on the last board meeting and presented a recommendation for appointment for the open trustee position on the hospital’s board. She also informed the commission that the new clinic at Licking will be open in early July. A letter was discussed about a funding grant for mammograms.
- Reviewed and acknowledged the hiring of Evan Buse, in the collector/treasurer’s office effective March 13.
- Were informed that the Houston R-1 School District owes money to the county based on a mistake.
- Were informed that Amber Wiggs transferred from the collector/treasurer’s office to the prosecuting attorney’s office effective March 11.
In other business, commissioners heard from:
- Ralph and Dianna Edgerton with complaints about Current Township not maintaining Hunter Drive.
- George Sholtz inquiring about Camp Road Bridge, the Republican caucus and other county matters.
- Brian Reed about the approach to his property.
- Ivan Schrader, attorney, on county issues.
