This past weekend was the Texas County Library Fall Book Sale.
The weather was perfect and we sold lots of books to help generate funds to buy new books for the Library. For the books that did not find new homes, we have them for sale here in our Library entrance. You may fill a Texas County Library canvas bag for $10 or buy books individually.
Books make great gifts! Cash or check only please.
A big thank you to all the staff and our terrific volunteer Darrell Fisher for your time and hard work setting up, manning, and taking down the book sale. Also, thanks to Rhonda Kell for lending us her tables every year!
The Texas County Library has one more book sale for this year. Mark your calendars for the Summersville Friends of the Library Fall Book & Bake Sale. Hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11.
For Halloween, we have plenty of books for the kids and several new mysteries for adults. Speaking of Halloween, at our Houston and Licking branches, we will be passing out candy and books to the kiddos. Come share your Halloween costume with us on Tuesday, Oct. 31!
While the library appreciates book donations, we do have a policy that we would ask you to follow before you donate. Visit our website, call any branch, or ask for a copy of the policy when you visit the library. Please ask before you donate. Thank you.
The State Library has asked all Missouri libraries to remind all parents and guardians of minors (which includes 17 years and younger) that they are responsible for items their minors check out in the library. Therefore, effective Aug. 1 and going forward, when minors want to check out and their library card is due for renewal, the parent or guardian will be asked to sign new documentation that complies with the State of Missouri’s request. Thank you in advance for your understanding of this process.
Ongoing weekly activities at all branches include Saturday chess, S.T.E.M. and LEGO groups. Saturday hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. We also have S.T.E.M. kits available for check out. Storytime at the Houston Branch is every Thursday at 10 a.m. Bring in your little ones to read a story with Miss Tiffany!
We provide several services such as copies, faxes, scanning, WIFI, and computers for adults and kids. Library cards are free; you just need to show your ID and proof of your address.
Please be sure to visit the library website and our Facebook page for dates and activities happening at all Texas County branches.
