Texas County deer hunters killed 2,748 as the annual fall firearms deer season began Friday.
The total was the second highest in Missouri. The breakdown shows: antlered bucks (1,482), button bucks (254) and does (1,012).
Top counties are Franklin (2,811), Texas (2,748), Benton (2,357), Callaway (2,209), Howell (2,194) and Dent (2,106). The season ends Tuesday.
Last year, hunters in the county killed more than 3,100 during the fall firearms season.
