The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:
•At about 10:10 p.m. July 11, a deputy was dispatched to a Maple Drive residence at Plato regarding a domestic disturbance involving a 27-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman.
After an investigation, neither person wished to pursue charges. They were advised of the 12-hour rule.
•At about 11:58 p.m. July 11, a deputy was dispatched to an Elm Drive residence at Plato regarding a domestic disturbance involving a 41-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman.
Upon arrival, the officer discovered the man had left the scene. The woman declined to pursue charges. She was advised of the 12-hour rule.
•Rachel M. Smith 38, of 9846 Ashley Creek Road at Raymondville, was issued a citation for fourth-degree assault after an incident at about 11 p.m. June 30.
An investigating officer reported that Smith allegedly pushed a 16-year-old girl down a stairway, causing physical injury.
•A 61-year-old Licking woman came to the TCSD office on July 8 to report a theft.
The woman told an officer she had received a security alert on her computer stating she had a virus and advised her to call a phone number on the back of her debit card. When she did, the call was reportedly rerouted and a person (of unreported gender) told her to take the money out of the account and buy Walmart gift cards with it so the money would be safe.
The person told her that once she had done so, she was to call back and provide the numbers of the gift cards. The woman complied and found out it was a scam.
She told an officer she had purchased $3,000 worth of cards. She was given an identity theft packet to submit to the state attorney general’s office.
•On July 8, deputies responded to a report of a 4-year-old Licking boy being bitten by a dog and receiving five stitches at Texas County Memorial Hospital.
The owner of the dog was contacted and advised to quarantine the dog for 10 days. No charges are being sought at the request of the boy’s family.
•A Summersville Police Department officer called July 8 to report that a woman was in his office concerning a runaway 15-year-old boy.
The woman reportedly stated she had gone to a Ladley Road residence where the boy had been staying to pick him up, but he had cursed at her and refused to leave. She told the police officer she was concerned about drugs, weapons and unsupervised minors in the house.
A deputy and a juvenile officer went to the location where the boy had reportedly been staying and where they were meet with the boy’s mother. But upon arrival, nobody was in the house. The deputy and juvenile officer were later advised that the boy was back home after being dropped off there by the residents of the house in question.
•A deputy responded July 8 to a report of a suicidal man at a Concord Road residence at Licking.
The man, 28, had allegedly been sending texts to his 26-year-old girlfriend threatening to kill himself. One of the texts reportedly showed him holding a pistol to his head.
Upon arrival, officers observed the man sitting in the vehicle with crutches propped against the side. As officer approached, he become angry and began throwing things, including the crutches and his phone.
Once he calmed down, a .45 caliber gun was found in the vehicle with its safety off and hammer cocked.
The man reportedly admitted to using methamphetamine earlier the same day. He was taken to the Texas County Jail for a 12-hour safekeeping period pending a 96-hour mental evaluation.
