COMMISSION MEETS

Personnel changes in the Texas County Sheriff’s Department are highlighted in May 23 minutes of the Texas County Commission.

The minutes, released June 12, report the commissioners:

•Heard that David Jones began as the jail administrator on May 21. According to the minutes, he has been training for the position since his hiring in March as a part-time jailer. The pay is $11.50 per hour.

•Learned Wesley Perryman transferred to full-time road deputy on May 24. He was a part-time jailer. The pay is $10.67 per hour.

•Heard that Nathan Cockrum began a full-time road deputy on May 24. He was a part-time jailer. The pay is $10.67 per hour. He had been a part-time jailer.

•Were told Jennifer Tomaszewski, the jail administrator, became a road deputy on May 24. She will help Jones until he is fully trained, according to the minutes.

•Learned Andrew Chronister transitioned from part-time to full-time jailer effective May 30 at the same pay.

•Heard that Conner Burnes began as a full-time road deputy on May 24. The pay is $10.67 per hour. He had been a full-time dispatcher.

The road deputies also are eligible for a supplement wage grant provided through the state. Perryman, Cockrum, Tomaszewski and Burnes graduated May 23 from the Missouri Sheriff’s Association academy at West Plains.

Sheriff James Sigman made the presentation to the commission.

In other matters, members:

—Accepted Landmark Bank as the county’s depositary. Progressive Ozark Bank also submitted a bid.

—Met with Wes Murray and Linda Pamperien of Texas County Memorial Hospital concerning inmate hospital bills and future care. Discussions have been ongoing related to more than $200,000 in hospital debt accumulated by the county. The hospital’s board of trustees earlier decided that only emergency care for inmates would be extended unless some resolution is reached on care and payment. “Both sides are working toward a beneficial agreement for all sides,” read the minutes.

—Decided that Commissioner Doyle Heiney will lead an effort to find replacements for emergency management director and local emergency planning committee.
