The primary is Tuesday, Aug. 7. 

Filings close at 5 p.m. Tuesday for positions on a variety of boards, including city, school and water boards, as well as the TCMH board of trustees.  

At Houston, Charles “Chalky” Wells and Fawn Bell are candidates for the Ward II seat held by Sheila Walker.

Seeking re-election are Ward III Alderman Viki Narancich and Ward I Councilman Joe Honeycutt.

Some school offices were closed due to inclement weather on Monday and Tuesday, and those filings were not available.

At Raymondville School, the terms of Allan Branstetter and Doug Swan expire. Branstetter refiled for a three-year term.

A five-year term on the Texas County Memorial Hospital board appears on the April ballot. The position is held by Jay Loveland, who has refiled.

Re-filing for Houston board of education are Leon Slape and Stacie Ely, as well as Tim Malam.  The terms are three years.

Plato School Board: Penny Morrison and Clint Todd are the incumbents. Todd is seeking re-election.

Voters will decide three, four-year positions on the Texas County Emergency Services Board. It oversees a three-eighths cent sales tax for 911 services in Texas County. The incumbents are Bill Bridges, Scott Lindsey and Brad Evans, who filed earlier. Hope Martin of Licking also has filed.
