Plato R-5 Schools held a hurricane relief drive and collected enough items (clothing, bedding, food, tools, etc.) to fill a Roby Baptist Church trailer. Two local vets, that moved to the area to retire, made the 750mile drive to Port Aransas, Texas, to deliver the donations Monday to Heavenly Hope Center at Laughing Horse Lodge. A small video can be seen on the Plato R-V School District website of the delivery as well as pictures of the progress.
Sharon and Tom Tyger of Houston enjoyed a week of vacation at Yellowstone National Park. They saw bears, buffalo, elk, deer, sheep, antelope, chipmunks, squirrels, a moose, a wolf, fox and one snake.
The Foster’s Outback dancers, including Dottie Perryman of Raymondville, enjoyed dancing Oct. 7 at the Willow Springs Bear City Fall Festival. The festival also included craft booths, displays, food, live entertainment, games, contests, demonstrations, quilt show, pie contest, chili cook-off and a wood cutting competition.
The annual Yukon Reunion was Oct. 1 at the Big Creek Baptist Church. OREO Pumpkin Cookie Balls Ingredients:
• 6 oz. (3/4 of 8-oz. pkg.) cream cheese, softened
• 1 pkg. (15.25 oz.) OREO Peanut Butter Creme Cookies, finely crushed
• 3 pkg. (4 oz. each) BAKER’S White Chocolate, broken into pieces, melted
• 1 cup orange colored sugar
• 10 pretzel sticks, each broken into 4 pieces Directions:
1. Mix cream cheese and cookie crumbs until blended.
2. Shape into 40 (1-inch) balls. Dip balls in melted chocolate; roll in sugar to evenly coat. Place in single layer in shallow waxed paper-lined pan. Insert one pretzel piece into top of each for the pumpkin’s stem.
