• The Missouri Department of Conservation is hosting open houses around the state through October to share information and gather public feedback. In the region, the Twin Pines Conservation Education Center in Winona will host an open house beginning at 8 a.m. No registration is required. Refreshments will be served. The first 80 attendees at each open house will receive a special gift from MDC.

OCT. 13

• The Texas County Genealogical and Historical Society will meet at 1 p.m. at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Houston. Tim Ceplina is the speaker. Guests are welcome. Refreshments will be served.

• TCMH Auxiliary meeting is 2:30 p.m. in the Mayuga Cafe at TCMH.

• First Christian Church of Houston is holding a blood drive from 1-5:30 p.m. To be eligible to give blood, you must weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health, and present a valid photo ID.

OCT. 14

• A golf scramble to benefit the Houston High School basketball programs will be held at Oakwood Golf Club. The three-person scramble will have shotgun starts at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Cost is $180 per team and includes green fees, cart and lunch from noon until 1:30 p.m.

• A truck pull hosted by the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce begins at 7 p.m. at its fairgrounds. Cost is $10 or $5 for ages 5-12. Those under age 5 are free.

• Roby Fire Department firefighters meeting and training is 6 p.m. at the Roby station.

• VFW Post 473, Cabool, monthly meeting is 10 a.m.

OCT. 15

• The annual Roseberry Cemetery meeting is 2:30 p.m. at the Roseberry Cemetery and School, 32000 County Road 6310, between Licking and Edgar Springs. For more information, call 573-263-9470 or 660-631-3941.

OCT. 16

• Community Betterment and Arts Council of Houston will meet at noon at the Houston Senior Center.

• Marines of Greater Ozark Detachment meeting, 7 p.m. at Ozarks Medical Center meeting room.

OCT. 17

• The Summersville branch of the Texas County Library will host a veteran’s Q & A open house at 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. The guests are two representatives from the Missouri Veterans Commission. The public is invited to join and to bring any questions or concerns for the representatives to address. Refreshments will be served.

• Houston Education Foundation meeting, 6 p.m. at the Houston Schools superintendent’s office.

• Mary S. Chapter Eastern Star meeting is 7:30 pm. at the Masonic Hall on Dooley Street, Houston.
