The Pregnancy Resource Center (PRC) of South Central Missouri in Houston offers “help when it seems there’s no hope.”
For more than a year, the PRC has been helping mothers in the area make important decisions about their future in a judgment-free environment.
As a non-profit and community-based pregnancy center in Houston, the PRC relies on donations and fundraising events to keep its services free for women and men facing crisis pregnancies. In the past year, PRC has helped over 100 clients.
“We depend on generous donations from people in the local community,” said PRC executive director Debra Stockard. “Our fundraising events and donations from others help us to offer free programs and services to anyone who walks through our doors. The more people who donate, the more lives will be touched, changed and transformed.”
The next fundraising event for the PRC will be its second annual Color Run & Stroller Fun 5k Run/Walk on Oct. 7, at the First Baptist Church in Houston. All interested participants can pre-register now at the PRC.
Services offered at the center include pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, crisis pregnancy and post-abortive counseling, prenatal, parenting and nutrition classes, education on abstinence until marriage, as well as material assistance and information on adoption.
Education is an important part of the PRC’s programming before, during, and after pregnancy. Through “Earn While You Learn” classes, mothers and fathers can learn prenatal needs, nutrition and parenting skills for babies and toddlers to the age of three years old while earning “Baby Bucks” to use in the center’s “Baby Boutique” for items such as clothing, blankets, diapers, toys, strollers, car seats and more.
“We strive to serve our clients with compassion as we offer help, hope and healing to those making challenging pregnancy decisions,” Stockard said.
All monetary donations, new or gently used baby items and maternity clothing are accepted.
“And greatly appreciated,” Stockard said.
The PRC is at 107 E. Pine St. in downtown Houston. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Donations can be mailed to PRC, P.O. Box 295, Houston, MO. 65483. For more information, call 417-967-1100, log onto http://prcsouthcentral.org/ or visit the PRC’s Facebook page, @PRC of SCM.
