A local effort to aid Hurricane Harvey victims has been announced.
Texas County resident Rebecca Smith said she and her family are collecting items that will be transported to a relief center in Corpus Christi. She said the goal is to collect enough items to fill a 15-foot trailer by Sept. 29 for delivery on Oct. 1.
Items sought are nonperishable foods, toiletries, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, paper goods, diapers, cleaning supplies such as mops, mop buckets, brooms, bleach wipes, bleach, garbage bags, bug spray and bottled water.
