The Houston volleyball team is still searching for its first conference victory.

The Lady Tigers lost another close decision Tuesday night in the South Central Association. They fell to 0-3 with a 25-21, 25-22 loss to Ava inside Hiett Gymnasium.

Senior Brooke McCown led the Lady Tigers with eight kills. Alexis Choate had 12 assists.

Melody Buse had a team-best 14 digs. Kennedy Campbell had one block.

Houston (3-14) fell behind 6-1 to begin the match before battling back to take a 12-11 advantage.

The set was tied 18-all when Ava went on a 5-1 run for a 23-18 lead. Tara Stanton’s kill made it 23-21 before Ava scored two points to close out the set.

HHS again fell behind in the second set early – this time a 5-2 deficit. But the Lady Tigers again fought back to take a brief lead at 11-10.

Campbell’s kill pulled HHS with a point at 20-19 and the deficit was 24-22 on McCown’s kill. But Ava scored the final point to win the match.
