Houston’s football fortunes took a turn for the worse when Cabool defeated the Tigers, 14-0 on the home field. Fullback Ronnie Stark scored both touchdowns for Cabool.

Carl Casebeer and Herb Bray leased the Mid-Town service station from Sinclair. The station formerly was operated by Wilbur Brill, who is now attending MU.

Fire damaged the A.J. Haney grocery store and service station.

New president of the Houston Pastor Conference is the Rev. M.E. Williams of the Methodist Church.

Willow Springs voters approved a bond issue to purchase the electrical distribution system from Sho-Me Power Corp.

Cabool’s reorganization plan was approved whereby six schools will consolidate. The vote was 157 to 32. Mr. and Mrs. Kaga Ross are on an extended vacation trip in the West.

Mike Becker is enrolled in law school at MU; Mike Kilpatric is a freshman at Drury; Blanche Scheets and Sam Yarnall are at SMS and Roger Eberhart is attending Central at Fayette.

The Gentry Browns are in Chicago to see the new Oldsmobile. Vic Damone was MC at the auto show.

Leland Farley, power use representative for Intercounty Electric, was in Denver, Colo., to attend a workshop.

At the Melba, Gary Cooper was in “Friendly Persuasion.”

The “Inquiring Reporter” quizzed several Houstonians to ascertain their favorite television programs.

Answers included the Ed Sullivan Show, Groucho Marx, Lawrence Welk, Ted Mack, Spike Jones, Robert Cummings and the $64,000 Question.
