A stolen Houston vehicle was found west of Houston.

The following are excerpts from reports generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

•A 58-year-old Houston man reported a suspicious vehicle Aug. 6 on High Town Road west of Houston. The man described the vehicle as a maroon Ford SUV and stated it was parked by the roadway near the White’s Ford river access. He also said he had found the vehicle’s keys on the ground next to it.

On the way to the location, a deputy was advised the Houston Police Department had reported a stolen maroon Ford SUV. Upon arrival at the vehicle, the officer observed that its VIN matched that of the stolen SUV, which belonged to a Houston man and woman.

A towing company took the vehicle to the owners’ place of business and police were notified. Photos were taken and turned over to Houston police.

•A 58-year-old Bucyrus man reported just after midnight Aug. 6 that two men were trying to remove an air conditioning unit from a window at his Highway 17 residence.

An investigating deputy was unable to locate the suspects. The officer also observed no footprints in the muddy ground below the window, and that the window was out of reach from the ground, so some sort of device would have been required to reach the AC unit.

The man told the officer he had been sitting on a couch when the incident occurred, and yelled at the two men to come to the door so he could beat them with a bat. He told the officer he watched the suspects run into the woods behind his house.

•A Houston man called at about 6 p.m. Aug. 5 to report that a man who is a neighbor to his Brushy Creek Road residence was burning tires and causing a visibility problem on the roadway in the area.

An investigating deputy made contact with the neighbor, 41, and asked to observe his burn pile. The officer saw no tires in the pile, but did see an old mattress that appeared to be emitting lots of smoke.

By the time the officer left the scene, smoke had thinned out and visibility on the roadway was not an issue.

•A woman called at about 11 p.m. Aug. 2 to report several people at the creek on Lilly Road near her Highway UU residence at Solo who were playing music very loudly.

The woman told an investigating officer the noise was interfering with her children sleeping. Upon arrival, the officer was unable to locate anyone at the creek.

The woman called again a bit later indicating someone in a Jeep kept driving by her home with music blaring. The officer returned to the scene and parked at the end of the woman’s driveway for about 20 minutes, but no vehicles were observed or music heard.

•Judith A. Kimrey, 63, of 411 E. Main St. in Houston, was arrested Aug. 3 for having active warrants for stealing and a probation violation.

A deputy made the arrest at a Boiling Springs Road residence at Success after being advised by Houston police that Kimrey was there. She was taken to the Texas County Jail.

•A deputy was dispatched at about 1:45 p.m. July 30 to assist an ambulance crew with a man who had allegedly jumped off of Dogs Bluff and hit his head.

Upon arrival, the officer observed the ambulance crew speaking with the man, 33, who was alert and answering all questions. A witness stated the man appeared to have passed out before hitting the water.

The officer observed that man appeared to be fine and he refused medical treatment.

•An officer was dispatched July 21 regarding a report of property damage at a Dogwood Road residence at Mountain Grove.

A 62-year-old man there told the officer someone had poured a liquid substance on many plants at his son’s residence, causing them to die. The officer touched and smelled the substance and it resembled camp fuel. A 61-year-old woman was named as a suspect. The deputy made contact with the woman, and she stated there was an ongoing feud between her and the man who reported the incident, but she denied killing the plants.
