Firefighters from the Raymondville and Tyrone fire departments responded at about 12:20 p.m. Wednesday to a large brush fire off of Highway B west of Raymondville.
Two trucks and three personnel from Raymondville and one truck and one man from Tyrone battled the blaze, which scorched about 10 acres, mostly grassy but some wooded.
Raymondville Fire Chief Mike Jackson said the fire was started by a local resident burning a trash pile behind a house on a dry, windy day. The wind direction took the flames away from the house, and a second adjacent home.
