The following are excerpts from reports generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

• A deputy responded on Nov. 7 to a report of theft at Wehr Ford on Business U.S. 60 in Mountain Grove.

The officer viewed surveillance video and determined that a 43-year-old Cabool man had swiped two tool boxes and two vehicle batteries from campers parked on the dealership’s lot. A probable cause statement was sent to the county prosecutor seeking a felony theft charge against the suspect.

• A deputy was dispatched at about 11 p.m. Nov. 2 regarding a report of a prowler at a Howell Road residence at Mountain View. A man who lives there told the officer his 4-year-old daughter had seen someone peering through a skylight in the residence at about 9 p.m. The officer asked the man why he called at 11 p.m., and the man reportedly said he went to town and called when he got back.

The officer was unable to locate a suspect.

• A 56-year-old Licking man reported on Nov. 1 that someone had burned a 1970 Chevrolet Suburban of his while it was parked at his Shafer Road residence. An investigating officer determined the fire was intentionally set. There are no suspects.

• A 45-year-old Raymondville man reported on Nov. 13 that numerous items with a total value of $1,035 had been stolen from his Sleepy Hollow Road residence. There are no suspects.

• A 45-year-old Licking man reported on Nov. 6 that two car batteries and some tools had been swiped from his Ware Road residence. There are no suspects.

• A 29-year-old Houston woman reported a burglary in progress at her Highway E residence at about 1:15 p.m. Nov. 8.

The woman told an investigating officer she had come home and heard someone in the basement sliding something along the concrete floor. The woman had first called her 39-year-old husband about the incident and he had come home. He and the officer searched the area and determined the suspect had escaped through a basement door.

A dollar bill was found near the front porch of the home. The only thing apparently missing was about $40 cash that had been taken out of a cookie jar. There are no suspects.

• A 23-year-old Houston woman reported on Nov. 7 that a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe valued at $1,000 had been stolen from her Highway B residence, along with a tablet valued at $89, a passport and her birth certificate. The woman named a 32-year-old Houston man as a suspect.
