The Houston seventh-grade girls’ basketball team beat Mountain Grove 18-3 Thursday night for its first victory of the season.
“This was the team’s best performance so far this season,” coach Patti Roberts said.
Hannah Dzurick scored a team-best 12 points to lead the Lady Tigers (1-3). Annie Topping added four points and seven steals. Trinity Snyder and Ashleigh Loman had three rebounds apiece, and Gracey Roberts had two assists.
EIGHTH GRADE: Riley Scheets scored eight points in the Houston eighth-grade girls’ 19-14 loss Thursday to Mountain Grove.
Lexie Spratt and Danielle Walker scored three points apiece for Houston (0-4). Walker had a team-high four rebounds. Kaileigh Barker and Jaden Stell had two assists apiece.
“The girls did a good job playing man-to-man defense,” coach Jodie Tottingham said. “We just got out-rebounded and missed several open shots. We are hoping to see improvements in these areas as we continue through the season.”
