An inmate held at the South Central Correctional Center at Licking died Monday, officials said.
Gerald Gardner, 58, died at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston.
Gardner was serving a 50-year sentence for first-degree statutory sodomy from Pulaski County. He has been in prison since January 2003.
The department does not suspect foul play was involved. An autopsy will be performed.
