Sales tax revenue was down in Houston during the latest monthly distribution.

Monthly revenue from sales taxes collected in City of Houston dropped about 1.5 percent from a year ago, the Missouri Department of Revenue reported.

Proceeds from a one-cent sales tax totaled $44,513, down $692 from the same month a year ago. For the year, collections are flat: The total for the first four months of the year was $227,178, up $904 from 2015.

Merchants also collect two, quarter-cent sales taxes for roads, sidewalks and utility work. Each contributed $10,641 for the month.

An eight-cent sales tax for debt repayment on a fire truck totaled $5,320.
