The Pregnancy Resource Center of South Central Missouri (PRC) took several steps forward last week.
Numerous items to help the facility get going were donated by multiple companies and organizations, including 42 cases of diapers by Texas County Memorial Hospital and several pieces of furniture by Crowley’s HomeWorks. The PRC also hosted an open house Thursday at its location on Pine Street in downtown Houston, and its inaugural “Banquet for Life” Thursday evening in the community building at the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce Fairgrounds.
During the banquet, close to 200 people (most of whom were financial donors or potential donors) learned more about what type of outreach the PRC is and were introduced to what their donations would go toward. PRC director Debra Stockard said she felt the message was successfully delivered and received.
The Pregnancy Resource Center of South Central Missouri hosted the inaugural “Banquet for Life” last week in the community building at the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce Fairgrounds.
“I believe so,” Stockard said. “It was a great turnout and they were very responsive. It was a good start.”
With a goal of curbing or eliminating abortion, the PRC will offer numerous free services, including pregnancy testing, ultrasound, parenting classes, men’s mentoring, abstinence-until-marriage counseling, material assistance and even post-abortive counseling.
Stockard said the PRC will begin seeing clients soon, and she expects it to be up and running this spring.
“We’re excited to go forward and see what God’s going to do,” Stockard said.
