Instructors Christy Henry, left, and and Lacey Campbell were recognized for their contributions at Texas County Technical College.

The administrative staff at Texas County Technical College recently recognized two nursing instructors for their outstanding contribution to its nursing programs.

Christy Henry, coordinator of the practical nursing program, and Lacey Campbell, coordinator of the accelerated LPN to RN program, were recognized for their efforts at the institution. Administrators said guiding the two programs takes an enormous amount of time and dedication above the average nursing work week.

Henry’s class of 2015 achieved a 100-percent first time pass rate on the NCLEX-PN, the national test required for licensure as a licensed practical nurse. Campbell is coordinating the final semester of a newly revised associate program for licensed practical nurses wanting to bridge to become an RN. The new program is designed to be completed in 12 months, attain maximum NCLEX-RN pass rates, and ensure newly graduated nurses have a strong educational background.

TCTC said being an outstanding instructor requires several attributes: be an advocate for nursing; enjoy watching students grasp and successfully apply nursing concepts; help maintain the integrity of the profession; have a passion for nursing that instills that passion; and a positive experience prior to entering the nursing field.

“Mrs. Christy Henry and Mrs. Lacey Campbell are recognized as having these attributes by TCTC,” the institution said in a news release.

TCTC is seeking additional instructors. For additional information regarding instructor positions available for both classroom and clinicals or to submit a resume, email info@texascountytech.edu. Minimum of a BSN or higher is required.
