Trees and utility lines along Cleveland Road in Houston droop under the weight of wet snow from a wintry system that passed over the region late Tuesday and early Wednesday. The heavy white stuff was responsible for widespread power outages among Intercounty Electric customers in Texas County.

About 600 homes in Texas County are without power Wednesday morning following an overnight snowfall, according to Intercounty Electric.

The organization said via its Facebook page that “crews are assessing damage and working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.” Two poles were down along Route M near Stack Road north of Cabool. Customers in Houston, Cabool, Bucyrus, Licking, Maple and Salem were affected.

Heather Satterfield, of Intercounty, told KY3 overnight snow caused the issues as heavy snow brought tree limbs down on power lines.

The public can view outage details in real time by viewing the “outage map” at www.ieca.coop.
