Texas County deputies recently handled several investigations.

The following are excerpts of reports generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

•A Cabool woman called at about 12:05 a.m. Jan. 3 to report seeing several people with flashlights in her Highway PP residence’s yard, and that she had been watching them on video on her security system.

An investigating officer determined that what the woman had actually viewed was caused by a spider web being blown in the wind in front of a security camera. The woman removed the web with a broom and everything looked normal on the video feed.

•A man called at about 6:30 p.m. Jan. 3 to report trespassers near the river on his Stillman Drive property at Cabool. An investigating officer made contact with four people at the scene, who were warned and then left the area.

•An 84-year-old Cabool woman called Dec. 3 to report a burglary at her Highway EE residence.

The woman told an investigating officer two boxes containing about $800 worth of jewelry had been stolen. There are no suspects.

•A Licking woman called at about 8:15 p.m. Jan. 2 to report her daughter’s boyfriend was drinking and driving and “peeling out” outside her residence at a Kitchem Drive trailer park. An investigating officer made contact with the woman, but she declined to fill out a voluntary statement.

•A woman called at about 11 p.m. Dec. 31 to report hearing someone whistling inside the garage of her Highway M residence at Cabool. An investigating officer was unable to locate a suspect and didn’t observe that anything had been tampered with.

•A woman called at about 9:30 p.m. Dec. 31 to report a white sedan shining a spotlight on houses on Highway 32. An investigating officer was unable to locate it.

•A Cabool man called at about 9:45 a.m. Jan. 1 to report his neighbor’s turkeys were coming onto his Highway M property. The man said one of his dogs chased the turkeys back across the road, and that the neighbor had shot a gun at one of his dogs.

An investigating officer advised both parties to maintain better control of their animals. They said they would.

•An officer responded at about 2:55 a.m. Dec. 28 to a 911 report of an open static phone line at a Grassy Road residence at Arroll. An investigating officer was unable to reach the home because high water blocked the roadway on both ends.

•A 39-year-old man called Dec. 28 to report that seven sheep had been killed and one was missing at his Dewitt Drive property at Hartshorn.

The man stated his neighbor’s dogs were to blame, and showed an investigating officer where he thought they had come through a fence onto his property. The man also stated he had seen the dogs on his property, and the officer observed what appeared to be prints from dogs’ paws in the area.

The officer made contact with the man who owns the dogs and advised him a report would be sent to the county prosecutor.

•A deputy was dispatched at about 8:15 p.m. Dec. 29 regarding a report of a burglary in a residence at a Northview Lane trailer park at Houston.

A 53-year-old woman who lives there told the officer many items with a total value of more than $500 had been stolen and that lots of damage had been done to the inside of the home. There are no suspects.
