A Summersville man was injured Monday, Oct. 12, in an accident south of Summersville, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said. 

A Summersville man received moderate injuries Monday night when his vehicle struck a cow on Highway 17. 

Tpr. Jacob Sellars of the Missouri State Highway Patrol said a southbound 2002 Ford Expedition driven by Chance A. Johnson, 34, struck the animal about two miles south of Summersville.

Johnson, who was wearing a seat belt, had moderate injuries and was taken by the ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Mountain View. The vehicle was totaled.

The Summersville Fire Department was called to assist after the 10:10 p.m. wreck.
