After three close conference losses, the Houston volleyball team got its first South Central Association victory last week in convincing fashion.
Behind six kills apiece from Sarah Kelley and Alyssa Hayes, the Lady Tigers cruised past Salem 25-10, 25-22 last Thursday inside Hiett Gymnasium.
Camryn Sheets had 12 assists for Houston (7-9-2, 1-3 SCA). Emily Shea had two of the team’s six aces.
Two days earlier, HHS lost another three-set decision in the SCA as Willow Springs edged the Lady Tigers 25-14, 20-25, 27-25.
Kelley and Katelyn Martinez had six kills each for Houston. Sevanna Rowland had a team-best 18 digs.
On Saturday, the Lady Tigers were 0-3-1 in the Rolla Tournament. Houston tied Osage 25-20, 13-25 and was defeated by Rolla (25-13, 25-8), Waynesville (25-11, 25-18) and West Plains (25-16, 27-25).
Kelley led HHS with 12 kills in the tournament. Martinez had 10.
