In its first meeting inside the new library/media center on campus, the Houston school board bid farewell Tuesday night to a longtime employee of the district.
Superintendent Scott Dill read a resolution of recognition and appreciation – that was unanimously accepted – honoring executive board secretary Janice Maxwell, who is retiring at the end of August. The resolution commended Maxwell as “committed to the mission of the district” and for making “education an edifying experience for the students of our district.”
School board president Jo Holland presented Maxwell with gifts from the board. Past presidents Dr. Joe Richardson and Dr. Tom Dunn were also present to express their gratitude.
