About 24 hours after the swelling Brushy Creek significantly damaged Walnut Street in Houston, the portion of the roadway reopened Monday evening to the public.
A strong current following rain Sunday afternoon wiped away large pieces of asphalt and rock below. Members of the Missouri Department of Transportation were investigating the damage shortly after 8 p.m.
By late Monday afternoon, the highway was reopened after repairs.
The damaged section of the roadway was located between Sharp Shooters Gun & Pawn and the Houston Visitors Center.

About 24 hours after significant damage closed a portion of Walnut Street, it was reopened late Monday afternoon.
