Wrestling is on for tonight’s Texas County Fair.
Despite the recent wet weather, the performance by World League Wrestling (WLW) will go on as scheduled inside the arena at the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce Fairgrounds.
Leland Race, the son of wrestling legend Harley Race, is among the performers who will wrestle tonight.
Thanks to a joint effort by the chamber, City of Houston and numerous volunteers, truckloads of sawdust has been spread out to cover muddy ground on the grandstand side of the arena. Assisted by personnel from the Lowry Carnival Co. (that provided the midway at this year’s fair), WLW staff has constructed the organization’s traveling wrestling ring atop the sawdust pad and the event will begin as planned at 7 p.m.
Wrestlers expected to do battle tonight include Leland Race, son of WLW founder and long-time pro wrestler Harley Race.
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for kids ages 5-12. Kids under 5 get in free.
World League Wrestling was started, and is run by eight-time champion Harley Race. Traveling the state of Missouri, WLW says it showcases quality professional wrestling talent in areas that may not be able to see it otherwise.
