Houston resident Bennie Cook has been named the newest member of the county’s 911 board.
Cook was announced Thursday by Texas County Emergency Services as a citizen representative. He replaces Wes Ellison, who previously resigned.
Cook, who is the director of the Texas County Food Pantry, also serves in the following capacities:
•Director of emergency management for Texas County and the City of Houston.
•Chairman of the Texas County Salvation Army.
•Secretary for Masonic Lodge #177.
•Committee member of the State Housing and Trust Fund.
•Regional representative of the Governor’s Committee to End Homelessness
•Board member for Houston Housing Inc., Local Emergency Planning Commission and Texas County Emergency Food and Shelter.
•Member of the Houston Lions Club.
Also on the 911 board are Bill Bridges (Houston), Carol Ann Freeman (Cabool), Scott Lindsey (Licking), Jim McNiell (Houston), James Sigman (Cabool) and Kent Sturgeon (Licking).
