The following are excerpts of reports generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:
•An officer responded at about 5:40 p.m. May 17 to a Houston man’s complaint neighbors of his Ingram Drive residence were firing guns. The officer determined the shooters were using a proper barrier.
•A woman called at about 9 p.m. May 17 to report her son was causing a problem at her Mallard Drive residence. When an investigating officer arrived, the woman stated everything was fine.
•A man called at about 6:40 p.m. May 16 to report that his neighbor’s dog was on his Highway W property. An investigating officer made contact with the man who owns the dog and he said he would keep it put up.
•A deputy was dispatched at about 7:15 p.m. May 17 after a woman reported a man lying on the ground by a bridge near Cartwright Road and Panther Road in the southwest part of the county. The officer was unable to him.
•A deputy was dispatched at about 11:45 p.m. May 13 after a woman reported a possible burglary in progress at a Highway AW residence in Plato. The woman had stated she heard glass breaking, but the investigating officer determined the sound was actually a glass door swinging in the wind.
•A woman reported a prowler at her Cameron Road residence at about 3:40 a.m. May 14. An investigating officer was unable to locate a suspect.
•An deputy investigated a report of trespassing May 18 at the VFW Post 3009 property on Barn Hollow Road at Summersville.
A man representing VFW showed the officer where a gate on the property was wide open and where a trailer was parked in a small clearing. The officer observed evidence that squatters had been living there (including soap, towels, blankets, fishing supplies and other items), but nobody was there.
The officer advised the man to have the trailer towed at the owner’s expense and secure the gate. Investigation of the matter continues.
•A deputy was dispatched at about 7:25 p.m. May 20 regarding a suspicious object at a Highway N property at Licking. The officer found a weather balloon at the location and took it to the TCSD office.
•Silford L. Decker, 42, of 17938 Highway 32 at Success, was issued a citation for second-degree trespassing after being found passed out from being drunk on a Success woman’s Wye City Road property at about 8 p.m. May 15.
•A 64-year-old Strafford woman reported May 20 that a home she owns on U.S. 63 at Houston had been burglarized. The woman told an investigating officer that numerous items with a total value of $1,484 had been stolen, including a red generator with a Kawasaki motor valued at $850.
There are no suspects.
•A man called at about 3:40 p.m. May 20 to report kids with ball bats at the old tractor dealership at U.S. 63 and Highway BB. An investigating officer saw nobody there.
•A Summersville woman came to the TCSD office May 19 to report finding letters written by her 16-year-old daughter indicating her daughter wanted to kill her. The county juvenile office was alerted, and an officer recommended that the girl be taken to a hospital for psychological evaluation.
•An officer was dispatched at about 5:45 p.m. May 19 regarding a foul odor coming from a shed at a Highway AW property at Plato. A man who owns the property told the officer his renters were moving out and he had discovered the remains of a deer in the shed.
He stated he just wanted the TCSD to be aware of the issue.
•A deputy was dispatched at about 4:30 p.m. May 19 after a Houston woman reported neighbor’s kids climbing a fence at her Roberson Drive residence. The officer made contact with the neighbors, and they said they would keep their kids off the fence.
