Several churches are planning special services for Easter, which is April 5.

Several area churches are planning special services on Easter Sunday, April 5.

Among celebrations planned in the area are:

  • First Baptist Church, 1241 Hawthorn Ave., Houston: Simon Peter will present his story from a small-time businessman to a world-changer for God beginning at 10:45 a.m. Special music also is planned. For more information, call 417-967-2297.
  • United Methodist Church, 422 Hawthorn Ave., Houston: There will be a sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. following by a potluck breakfast in the fellowship hall. For directions to the service, contact the church office at 417-967-2372. The morning worship service will begin at 10 a.m.
  • Faith Fellowship, 7804 Highway 17, Houston: “Sunday Is Coming” is the theme of the service, which begins at 10:30 a.m. Along with contemporary and traditional worship, there will be a drama performance and message from Pastor Bill Villapiano celebrating the greatest event in history.   • United Methodist, 151 Junction St., Raymondville: A sunrise service will be held at Golden Hills Lake. The morning worship service begins at 10 a.m.
  • Ozark Baptist Church, 17490 Ozark Road, Houston: 8 a.m. sunrise service following by breakfast at 8:45 a.m. The Easter service begins at 11 a.m.
