The Raymondville Volunteer Fire Department had a leadership change Monday, as Guy Ceplina passed the chief’s helmet to Michael Jackson.
Ceplina was chief for 15 years and has been with the department for 20. He said he plans to stay on as a firefighter.
Jackson worked with the Summersville FD before joining Raymondville about five years ago.
“He has all the certification and experience necessary for the position,” Ceplina said. “He’s going to do a good job.”
Ceplina reminded the public that all Texas County fire departments are staffed by volunteers and need support from county citizens.
“We really rely on people paying their dues to keep this going,” he said. “We also really need for all the departments to work together to best make this work.”
