A Christmas drive to aid children in Texas County will aid 349 children this year, organizers said Monday.

The Christmas drive that benefits children in Texas County made the holiday brighter for many this year, the charity announced this week.

Housed in the basement of the Houston Lions Club den on North U.S. 63, the drive helped 349 kids and 126 families this year.

Individuals, businesses and organizations pitch in to adopt children. Cases were detailed in the Houston Herald, which launched the drive 30 years ago, and Christmas trees with case details were available at Untangled and Houston Walmart Supercenter.

Pat Miller is the coordinator of the program.
