Primarily combining walking and train rides, Alex Wall, of Portland, Maine, is making a trek across the United States from his hometown to San Diego, Calif.
Wall is a writer and makes frequent blog entries along the way, and accepts donations to fund his “adventure.”
“I left with four dollars in my pocket,” he said. “I’ll tell you what, though, I’ve been a lot of places and Missouri is about the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen.”
While he was in Houston, Wall spent the night at the home of a local couple who offered him a place to stay.
“The people here are great,” he said. “I definitely want to come back here and stay a while.”
