The Houston Herald this week will introduce the next generation of its online newspaper that is available for desktop computers and tablets.
The e-edition offers several enhancements previously not available to those who read the paper online. Among the improvements readers will discover are:
•Thumbnail images of each page’s news and advertising that populate at the bottom of the page.
•More ways to share information on each page via email (a particular page spread or the entire edition), Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.
•Bookmark a page for review later and make some notes about the page.
•The availability to “like” something for Facebook.
•Current weather and forecast information for Houston on the main page.
•Access to the Herald’s archives from the e-edition. Every newspaper published since 1949 and some editions before that year are available.
The e-edition is available at houstonherald.com/edition or clicking on the link across the top of the homepage. New editions are posted each Thursday morning. Technology for the e-edition and archives is provided by the St. Louis firm Dirxion.
