Texas County’s unemployment rate increased slightly in May, reports the Missouri Department of Economic Development.
The figure was 6.3 percent, an increase of two-tenths of a percentage point from April.
The agency said the county’s civilian labor force was 11,541. Total employment was at 10,817, an increase of five from April. Those unemployed stood at 724.
In south-central Missouri, the average jobless rate was 6 percent. Area counties and their unemployment rates: Douglas, 6; Howell, 5.4; Shannon, 7.8; and Wright, 6.1.
