A Texas County deputy was dispatched May 3 regarding a 911 call indicating people were trying to kill a 23-year-old man at a Prairie Road residence at Bucyrus.
The officer made contact with the man, who stated a 45-year-old man and 36-year-old woman, both of Plato, had tried to burn his truck with him in it, by pouring gasoline on it and igniting it. The alleged victim said he ran from the scene and called 911. He told the officer the pair had stolen his truck after the incident, but he also admitted to being highly impaired by methamphetamine during the incident.
The alleged assailants were arrested and questioned at the Texas County Sheriff’s Department, and later released. The truck was located in a ditch on Highway 32 near Plato.
